What does a brand film cost in Sheffield?

What does a brand film cost in Sheffield?

Straight answer first, because that's what you came for. A brand film in Sheffield will usually cost you somewhere between £3,000 and £12,000 plus VAT. A tight single-day shoot with a small crew and a couple of shorter pieces for social sits at the lower end. A film across several locations and days, with a proper edit, licensed music and a full run of social pieces, sits at the top. Most of the brand films we make land somewhere in the middle.

That's the short version. The rest of this is what moves the number, how we quote, and how to avoid paying for things you don't need.

What actually moves the price?

Five things drive the cost of a brand film, and none of them is mysterious.

Shoot days. The biggest lever by a distance. One location on one day is one price; three sites over a week is another. Every extra day is crew, kit and travel.

Crew size. A brand film can be one person with a camera and good judgement, or three people with a sound recordist and a second camera. The story decides. A founder talking about their business needs less than a factory floor in motion.

The edit. Cutting a two-minute film properly takes longer than most people expect. There's interview audio to sort through, a story to find in it, music to lay, colour to grade. Edit days are usually where the time goes, and it's the part clients see least.

Extras. Voiceover, licensed music, animated graphics, a drone, a presenter. Each is fine, each adds cost, none is compulsory. We'll tell you which ones the film actually needs.

The short pieces. Most clients want the main film plus a set of shorter versions for social. Planned before the shoot, they're efficient - we film for them on the day. Added afterwards, they're a second job.

Why do we quote three options?

When we quote a brand film you get three options. Each one is a single figure with everything included.

Three, because most people don't know what scope they want until they see it costed. A smaller, a middle and a bigger version side by side turns a vague budget into a concrete decision. You pick the scope.

One figure per option, because we've learned what happens with a list of line items. The moment there's a list, every conversation becomes "can we lose that line and keep the price," and the film ends up worse for it. Everything's in the number. No surprises later.

The three options are three different scopes for the same story - so you can see what an extra shoot day or a fuller edit actually buys, and choose the one that fits the job and the budget.

What are you actually paying for?

A brand film is the piece everything else hangs off. Bullion Chocolate's runs on their About page, plays on the wall during their factory tours, and sits on the screens in their cafes nationwide. One shoot, and it's still doing the job years later. [Link: Bullion Chocolate case study]

So the honest way to think about the cost is against what the film does for you: it carries your story into every place a customer meets you, for as long as you want to keep using it. Set against what most businesses spend on a month of advertising, it's a modest number for something that doesn't stop working.

How do you keep the cost down?

Know your story before we shoot. The clearer the brief, the fewer days it takes. We'll help you find it, but a business that knows why it exists films faster.

Plan the extras into the same day. If you want the short social pieces, say so before we roll and we'll shoot for them while we're there. Coming back for them costs another day.

Be decisive on revisions. Two rounds of feedback are in every quote. Endless small changes are where budgets quietly leak, so gather your notes and send them in one go.

Use what you've got. Existing footage, photography or archive can sometimes take a shoot day out of the plan.

What makes it cost more than it should?

Second shoot days from poor planning. Changing the brief halfway through the edit. Adding a voiceover after the film's already been cut around the interviews. And choosing a supplier on a low headline price, then finding the number didn't include music, colour, or the social pieces. Whoever you go with, ask what's in the figure.

How do I get a straight number?

Tell us what you're trying to do, where, and roughly when. We'll come back with three options and a recommendation, usually within a couple of days.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a brand film take to make? A few weeks from first call to final cut, depending on shoot days and how many rounds of feedback you'd like. You get a realistic timeline with the quote.

Do we need to be on camera? The best brand films feature real people from the business, and we make it painless - no scripts to memorise, no performance required. Actors are rarely needed.

Are these figures inclusive of VAT? No. All figures are plus VAT.

Can we use the film on social as well as our website? Yes. Plan the short pieces alongside the main film and they come out of the same shoot.

Is a brand film the same thing as a corporate video? People use the terms loosely. We use "brand film" for a story-led piece about who you are and why it matters - the one you'll still be using in three years.

Do you work outside Sheffield? Yes. Sheffield is home and where the studio is, but we film for clients across the UK.
